Tartalmi kivonat: | 1848 is the year of revolutions all around Europe. In England revolution started in painting. In 1849 a few paintings were exhibited with one mysterious initials „PRB". They must have been painted by different painters though all of them appeared with the same secret PRB. They completely differed from the paintings that characterised the age and were supported by the Royal Academy. They were full of paradox. The mixture of romantic idealism in their choise of subject, scientific rationalism in their technique and moralic criticism in their attitudee towards contemporary problems. Who are these figures who do not want to reveal themselves? What do they intend to reach with their scandalous pictures? In my thesis you will get answers to these questions. |
