The basic principles behind these games have a potential to motive students in the classroom. Learners participated in two versions of the game, since two major types of motivation direct students (extrinsic and intrinsic). In the first version, grades and marks determined the rate of student progress through the game. In the second version, students created characters and a virtual world in order to bring the story alive. Most students enjoyed both versions, but the one based on intrinsic motivation resulted in higher motivational levels.
