Tartalmi kivonat:It has been 170 years since the regular postal service started along the river Tisza in country Bácska. On December 22, 1853, the two post stations were opened at the same time in Zenta and Ada. Previously, a messenger from the nearest post office in Török-Kanizsa brought them to Zentá and took the parcels from there. The opening of the post offices in Zenta and Ada was basically for reasons of state administration. After the defeat of the war of independence in 1848/49, the Serbian Vojvodina and Temesi Banság were established as separate provinces, and the provincial government demanded that the ten settlements, which formed the district along the Tisza, be in the closest connection with the Zenta district mayor’s office, which they wanted to achieve by setting up village post offices. After the provincial government reorganized the public administration, it was understandably important to it that the mass of decrees and instructions were at their destination at the specified time, but it was equally important that feedback, reports, and other administrative documents arrive within the deadline. This was ensured regularly, every day, by the post office. In addition to postal service in the province, the telegraph lines are set up from 1852, to which the city of Senta joined in 1870. And in the fall of 1898, the telephone service is established in the city.
