Tartalmi kivonat:In the Hungarian historiography, the end of the reign of King Ladislaus IV and the rule of King Andrew III is generally associated with strong ecclesiastical intervention, with a particular emphasis on Archbishop Lodomér of Esztergom and Archbishop John of Kalocsa. In my writing, I examine two questions in connection with the political career of Archbishop Lodomér of Esztergom. Firstly, based on the interpretation of Tamás Pálosfalvi regarding the understanding of the estate, I explore the extent to which the former statements made by József Gerics, especially in connection with the laws of 1290, remain relevant. Secondly, I examine whether it was in the interest of the churchmen during that period to limit royal power and, if so, why.
