Tartalmi kivonat: | The aim of my essay is to show the techniques and symbols that children’s literature and puppet theatre use to portray one of the tabooest subjects, death, to children and young people by comparing a young adult novel and a puppet performance adapting the novel. The novel is written by Siobhan Dowd and Patrick Ness’s The Monster Calls, from which the Weöres Sándor Theatre and Mesebolt Puppet Theatre have produced a puppet production directed by György Vidovszky. In my thesis I will try to answer the following questions: How to talk about death to children, adolescents, and teenagers? What approaches are used in the novel and in the puppet performance? How does the performance use the abstract existence of the puppet and the different layers of meaning of puppet theatre? |
