Tartalmi kivonat:The dissimulation had become an essential element in the early modern period’s political communication, which concept meant the hiding or postponement of an ulterior motive. For this reason my aim is the interpretation of the communication between the Hungarian Palatine, Miklós Esterházy and the Transylvanian Prince, Gábor Bethlen, in the aspect of dissimulation and its lessons, shortterm consequences. This type of communication implied legitimation to Gábor Bethlen’s military campaign in 1626, on the other hand Miklós Esterházy could not use this method to impact on the prince’s military efforts. This study enucleates the importance of the appropriate use of political communication, which was a key factor in the political elite’s interactions at this time. The communicational mistakes extremely paid off and determined the quality of the local dignitaries relationship.
