Tartalmi kivonat:In my work, I analysed the political events of the parliamentary election in Szeged and the institution that organized the election in 1875. In my presentation, the focus was not on the national elections; however, the study contains parts related to national events in politics. For example, we can mention the fusion of Deákpárt (the governing party) and Balközép párt (the strongest opposition party), which I presented in detail in my work. The changes in electoral law in 1874 had a very important impact on the history of elections in Hungary. My work can be notable because the literature on the topic does not contain detailed writings according to archival sources on the election in 1875. From the archival sources, I mostly used the documents of the institution which organized the election in Szeged. Furthermore, I analysed the documents of the city council. To explain the political events, I rely on the local newspaper from that period (Szegedi Híradó). From the relevant literature, I would like to highlight the works of József Ruszoly and Andor Csizmadia since their writings helped me understand the electoral system of that era and supported me in learning how to use archival sources. I hope my research can be a starting point for further studies on the history of parliamentary elections after Act XXXIII of 1874 since the literature only detailed the parliamentary elections in Szeged from 1848 to 1875.
