| Tartalmi kivonat: | The purpose of my research is to review Mihály Szilágyi’s life in Hungarian historiography, namely it can be said generally that only a very little attention was paid to him in our historiography. The role he played in the defense of the castle during the siege of Nándorfehérvár in 1456 is notable for the Hungarian memory, however we have a very small knowledge about his life before that. In an article of 2017 Tamás Pálosfalvi realised the contradictions in the life of Mihály Szilágyi. Following Bonfini’s writing, the author took the conclusion that Hungarian historiography has accidentally confused by the biography of a certain person who named „Kara Mihál” (Mihály Fekete) with the life of Szilágyi. In my dissertation I would like to explore the question and examine how the image of Szilágyi known today has developed and changed in Hungarian historiography. My thesis is based on the conclusions drawn by secondary sources based on a cyclical inductive and deductive working methods. My analysis includes from the work of József Teleki, who wrote a monumental work about the family of Hunyadis, as well as his significant observations on the clarification of question of Szilágyi during to the modern literatures including the work of Pálosfalvi. Teleki treated with reservations of the general named „Kara Mihál”, who participated in the battle of Varna based on the work of János Nadányi, who was a historian in the 17th century. However, the laters researchers ignored Teleki’s scruble, that’s why I consider it necessary to clarify this issue for the history of science. Based on my research, I suppose that the person of Mihály Szilágyi has benne rather psuhed into the background in the works of historians during to the acts of János Hunyadi. In my thesis I follow the identification of Mihály Szilágyi and Mihál Kara, or rather their problematics and I also examine how the image of Szilágyi known today developed and changed in Hungarian hitoriography. |
