Tartalmi kivonat: | Difficulties of recovery after signing the “Treaty of Trianon” not only manifested in the reorganization of the economy, but also had an impact on cultural life and on the processes of intellectual life. An essential element of the concept of cultural supremacy associated with Klebelsberg was the idea that education and economic efficiency are closely linked. Direct connection between these two areas is represented by the contemporary expansion of economic vocational education: the two world wars resulted in an obvious qualitative and quantitative increase of this field. The declared goal is “to train citizens who can work not only with their hands but also with their minds”. These are the words of Vendel Becker, director of the teacher training institute in Szeged, who not only at the level of plans and ideas, but also through his practical activities has made a substantial contribution to the realization of the idea formulated above. His basic knowledge in economic geography proved to be helpful, as well as his experience in teacher training. This is the reason why his work outlining the contemporary development plan of economic vocational education deserves more attention, especially with regard to its regional aspects. He started to work on this topic in the 1920s and published articles about it even after the Second World War. However, his work published in 1934 and entitled “The problem of lower economic vocational education and the College of Economics to be established in Szeged” can be highlighted from all of his studies. In my presentation, I describe a reform plan that approaches economic vocational teacher training with a completely novel perspective, highlighting both its agropedagogical and social-historical aspects. |
