Tartalmi kivonat: | Isolation is one of the most destructive aspect of imprisonment, so prisoner’s correspondence is seen as an important way of maintaining the prisoner’s links with the outside world which will ultimately assist their resettlement. Prisoners’ correspondence with the outside wold is protected under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (Right to respect for private and family life), which stated, that “everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence.” The purpose of the paper is to present the structure and the main features of Article 8 of the Convention, particularly the purposes of the Article, negative and positive obligations of the states in connection with the Article 8, the protection of different means of communications and also the legitimate interferences with correspondence by the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. |
