| Tartalmi kivonat: | It took a long time to get from the father power to the current children custody. In 21st century protecting and loving the child has a bigger importance than having control over it. There can be seen severe problems concerning this issue in Hungary, because it is hard to execute a decision in the European Union if we do not use the same expression for the same thing. The changes made recently follow the direction required in the European Union. In Hungary we use the expression “children placement” in every situation when a child is placed after a divorce. Because in the last 50 years it was the judge who had to decide whether the child’s father or mother is more suitable to take care of it, and had to place the child somewhere. The child also had to choose, and sometimes it was quite hard for a little person. In both the United States and the European Union it is common that the parents treat the children together, even after their divorce, and they use children custody instead of children placement. The expression “child placement” is used only in cases when the child has to be placed to a third person, not to its parents. Now we are trying to change this, and willing to solve common child custody instead of placement. In the process of the comprehensive reform of legal system the aim is that parents feel responsibility for their children after divorce to make the practice of common custody easier. |
