Tartalmi kivonat:A part of the copyright law regime is currently being reformed within the framework of the Digital Single Market Strategy. In September 2016, the Commission published proposals for two directives and two regulations which foresee the new regulation. In the first part of the paper – after a brief review of the current copyright legislation – we will take a closer look at the reasons and circumstances which led to the reform. We state that due to the increasing need for harmonisation and need to make the rules fit the digital age, the legislation is susceptible to change. The aim of part 2 is to compare the current regime and the new proposals in light of the Commission’s previous thoughts. The paper examines how legislature aims at complying with the requirements of the 21st century, and it states critical remarks concerning the reform’s attitude, heading, contents, and visible practical completion. Its fundamental conclusion is that the proposals contain the solutions for some long-standing problems as well as some premature provisions. Although it doesn’t speak about a lot of questions that used to bear bigger importance, the appreciation of copyright law as an industry is clear, and the reform will have a direct effect on every stakeholder. The subject of the research is very timely, hence there can be modifications in the near future due to the ongoing process of finalising and accepting the new directives and regulations.
