| Tartalmi kivonat: | In this study women speak about the presence of women in the synagogue. Moreover they do so in a female language, with the help of descriptions of women's clothing and behavioural customs. The interviews with women reveal that the women of a synagogue in Buda differed/differ in external appearance from Jewish women of Pest. But even these differences were not always the same. Through the female stratum we can observe how the face of the synagogue changes over time. Problems of women generally appear in a negative way in the literature because feminist authors mainly report on women's marginal or background social presence. I could not avoid negative experiences in the present description either, but I attempt to show the female participant in religious events as she again gives the alienated structures of religion a human character. |
