Tartalmi kivonat: | This study is about the iconographic programme of the sacristy cabinet of the church of Our Lady of Szeged-alsóváros which is special and rare among the Hungarian historical relics. The painted doors of the cabinet made in 1764 are in strong thematic connection with the old alters of the church. The equipement of certain alters was kept in this small cabinet. The frescos of the Purgatory altar, Saint John of Nepomuk, Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Anne, Piety, Saint Joseph, the Announciation, Saint Wendelin and Mary of Czenstochova were painted on the door of the cabinet. Not the famous miraculous image of the Lady Dressed in Sun but the allegorical figures of the Synagog and Ecclesia can be found on the middle door of the tabernacle. This was necessary because the pyx served as an altar in the morning of Holy Thursday. The aim of this study is to give a clear overview about the background of this cult. |
