| Tartalmi kivonat: | My paper discusses the issue of various ties related to battle of Sentaand Eugene of Savoy, based on former researches of Kálmán Benda (1987), Tamás Mohay (2008) and Géza Bodor (1972), adding my own researches. These ties have changed during the history. In the beginning, they were only dinastic (glorious victory of Habsburgmonarch) and religiosus (cult of the Mary’s icon from Máriapócs), later increasingly local (variants of local legend about the battle), but never national. Perhaps the lack of national ties was the reason for the failure to collect the money for the statue of Eugen of Savoy, therefore it has been placed in Buda. From 1918 until 1990-ties the battle anniversary suspended, but after the 300. anniversary, 11th of september celebrate regularly again as the municipal holiday. So today, local ties are very strong, for example, we have memorial place, memorial church, permanent exhibition in our municipal museum, memorial look-out in the tower of our town hall, association „Eugen of Savoy”, every year we organize memorial chess tournament „Battle of Senta”... |
