Tartalmi kivonat: | I first heard about the Sisters of Saint Benedict Monastery in Tiszaújfalu from one of my kind students. I stayed in the guest house of the monastery from 26 to June 2012 while preparing to the conference. I prayed and had meals together with the sisters. The monastery was founded by Erzsébet Skolasztika Berecz on 31 July 1927. The charity that governed the Founder’s venerable actions helping the country-men in need still survives in her successors after decades. There are twelve sisters in the monastery today, six young sisters and six elderly. They produce most of their food themselves and give from that to the poor and, in addition, they distribute clothes donations. The community helps the spiritual care of the elders in Pax Nursing Home run by the monastery. The sisters also fulfil a cultural mission: giving lectures, hosting recollections, and organising spiritual days for children and young girls. They teach religion education classes in Tiszaalpár and Kiskun-félegyháza. The sisters practice devoutly their offices (Liturgy of the Hours of Pannonhalma, released in 1994). |
