Tartalmi kivonat:In stammer of 1456, the Ottomans not only drove a campaign against of the Hungarian Kingdom, but — southward — against Athens as well. Nevertheless, analising the siege of Belgrade in 1456, this military event is often ignored by the Hungarian historiography. The southern Ottoman army had been led by the son of Turakhan, Omer, whose father — at the same time -died during the siege of Belgrade. The Byzantine chronicler, Georgios Sphrantzes documentated these two events successively. The blockade of Athens had started in June of 1456. However the main Ottoman army — under the command of sultan Mehmed II — had been totally destroyed and stampeded at Belgrade in July, the blockade and siege of the Principality dragged on for two years. This study observes - the possible junctions of these two main military episodes and their strategic opportunities.
