Tartalmi kivonat: | The major part of the studied highly truncated, 17.50 m-high profile, containing numerous eroded horizons and sedimentary hiatuses, is assigned to the Middle Pleistocene. Only the uppermost part of the profile can be put into the Upper Pleistocene. The interbedded paleosol horizons were correlated with the Mende Base, Basaharc Lower and Mende Upper Paleosol horizons. The coldresistant and xerophilous mollusk species, referring to major cooling of the climate, are generally lacking from the entire profile. The horizons yielding mollusk fauna suitable for evaluation are characterized by the presence of xerothermic elements. During the periods of loess formation the occurrence of species preferring closed-vegetation is also discernible in several horizons. All this seems to corroborate the significance of the influence of Sub-Mediterranean climatic effect previously noted in the study area. This must have been further strengthened by a southern aspect of the outcrop area. |
