| Tartalmi kivonat: | The situation of Greece in the European transportation space is on the one hand unfavourable from the aspects of maintaining EU connections but on the other hand it is advantageous for its role in maritime logistic connections between Middle-East and Europe. The large motorway projects being under construction with the ongoing – anachronistic for the time being – high speed railway projects will provide an alternative for the East-West combined transport connection between the Greek seaports and Italy (for example either in case of Balkan War situations when Vardar-Morava river becomes unusable or in peace-time creating South-North terrestrial connections towards Central and Western Europe. The limitation of shipping traffic at Bosporus with globalisation may generate a new logistic system of overseas freight transportation and this will increase the appreciation of South-Greek (Cretian) seaports. |
