Tartalmi kivonat: | First World War battles demanded a very high human sacrifice from the opposing parties. The war affected almost all members of the male population aged 18–50 years fit for military service. It can be said about this age group that a significant part of it fall, injured or became prisoners of war. Many of them, after their death, were not able to put their families and loved ones to rest. For my research I used documents found in the Békés County Archives about Gyoma and Endrőd and I used the local journals (Gyoma-Endrőd Vidéke and Gyomai Újság ) and press publications with a békés county appearance. In my lecture, I use these resources to show the extent to which the memorials took place in the 1920s. In Gyoma and Endrőd settlements lengthy preparatory work preceded the claim of the monument and its solemn unveiled. The monuments were intended to serve a dual purpose. On the one hand, the respect of the heroic soldiers appeared, on the other hand, what is more important it forms a link between the families and the fallen ones. It should be emphasized how the World War I memorial exhibition was influenced by national politics and how local citizens took part in the initiative and organization. Using the archives and contemporary press, it is possible to reconstruct what processes can be observed and how the memorial exhibitions took place in the examined settlements. Finally, how they made a commemorative memory for soldiers killed in the First World War? |
