Tartalmi kivonat: | For the Hungarian prosecution service, 1945 was the dawn of a new era. A couple years later, due to the changed political landscape of the country, the organisational and procedural arrangement that had developed in the 19th century was replaced by a constitutionally new service, the responsibilities of which were also substantially changed. Temporarily, in proceedings concerning war crimes and crimes against mankind, parallel apparatus also operated. In the next decades, the People’s Prosecutor’s Office, which was established under the first written constitution of the country, changed in line with the state’s political situation. The legal practices that developed in this period remained dominant after the birth of the Republic in 1989, but there were still changes required – these established the prosecution service as a fundamental institution of the rule of law, with set organisation and responsibilities by 2003. |
