Description
Summary:In the present study carbon spheres were used as templates to synthesize titanium dioxide hollow structures. The synthesis of the photocatalysts were based on the synthesis method of our previous, highly efficient (peroxo group enhanced) titanium dioxide. Carbon sphere templates were characterized by XRD, SEM, and IR measurements, while titanium dioxide hollow structures were characterized by XRD and SEM measurements, respectively. The photocatalytic activity was determined by the degradation of phenol under visible light irradiation. Self-made hollow sphere TiO2 (denoted as ‘Rutile-H2_HS’) possessed superior photocatalytic efficiency compared to commercial Evonik Aeroxide P25 and selfmade reference photocatalyst synthesized without shape tailoring.
