| Tartalmi kivonat: | One of the first satirical weekly journals of Szentes’s print media was the Darázs, which started in May 1883. It supported the government and strongly criticized the leaders of the city, especially Mayor János Balogh and the leader of the local opposition, Ferenc Sima. The editorial staff regularly reported ironic caricatures or jokes about them, and did not spare the police captain and the town clerk either. In addition, the newspaper began an anti-Semitic invasion with extreme rough style, and the population, which supported the city leaders, soon boycotted the Darázs, which had been completed after four months of publication. |
