Tartalmi kivonat:This paper is an attempt to simplify the rules for Hungarian nasals, following the generative tradition of Vago (1980), Olsson (1992) and Siptar (1995). /n/-deletion, accompanied by the nasalization and compensatory lengthening of the preceding vowel, is united with the rule which changes /ji/ to [j]. The place assimilation of /n/ refers to [palatal] instead of [distributed]. Finally, the place assimilation of /ji/ to postalveolars, a rule ignored so far, is formulated.
