Tartalmi kivonat: | Among the villages of Slavonia: K6r6gy, Haraszti, and Szentl<tszl6, whose inhabitants are Hungarian and reformist, they cherish the memories of the large family-system /Zadruga!, too, as they called it. The name is of Slav origin and expresses the substance of it, as well. Nowadays the co-operative society has the same name. Among the enumerated villages the inhabitants of K6r6gy cherish traditions, memories the best. Here has lived mostly that form of the coexistence in a family, in old people's memories, when more generations and within them more small families lived in a house and cultivated the land /farm/ under the direction of the householder /the head of the family./ The leaders of the small families were the brothers and cousins, and the householder was the oldest man of the family: the paterfamilias. He had a great reputation, because of his age, his experience, in agriculture as well. There was an other practice at Haraszti, because generally one of the younger brothers was the householder1, j On his name was the land but he never was free to dispose of his own property, because it was the possession of the large family. After hisldeath the estate remained in possession of the Zadruga, possibly under the name/of the new family-head. He was the head of the family and all the members of it were in connection with one another through marriages. The manners of cultivating the farm, celebrating feasts in the family, addressing '-one another, cherisch the memories of that family-type. For example, there are even some houses, which have a small bedroom at the end of them for the newly married couples. We can find many similarities in the style of living, customs, manners and structure of the family, in inhabitants' memories in these 3 villages in Slavonia, as well as in Hungary, in Sárköz and in the villages, in surroundinu of Pécsvárad, where the Calvinists live. |
