Tartalmi kivonat:The number of employed people in Hungary decreased sharply in the first half of the 90s from 4.5 million to 3.6 million then since the middle of the decade rose slightly to its current 3.9 million level. The dramatic fall in the number of employed people was accompanied by large masses becoming economically inactive. Especially bad is the situation of the regions with biased industrialisation and unfavourable agricultural endowments. In the 1990s, among the economic sectors it has undoubtedly been agriculture that lost the greatest numbers, 700 thousand employees. The share of the agrarian sector in the employment decreased in one and half decades from 18 percent to 5 percent. 1.5 million people do permanent or temporary work in the agrarian sector.
