Tartalmi kivonat:The Sioux is not only a confederation of seven tribes living in the Great Plains of North America, it also considers itself proudly a nation with great past. Despite the fact that its traditional lifestyle was completely destroyed, the Sioux nation succeeded to preserve its identity even after being forced into reservations. Successful attempts were made to revivify and keep alive ancient customs, rituals and the Sioux word view according to which all humans are regarded as parts of nature, and are encouraged to live with it in perfect harmony. This harmony seems to be the one for which the whole `civilised' world is longing.
