He is my favourite writer and is perhaps the most widely read, best known, and most controversial of twentieth - century American writers. He had been a citizen of the world. His life was full of danger, full of adventures. His life was substantial, he lived entire life. In spite of the fact that he was a member of the Lost Generation. They lost their youth, aims, they were disillusioned In this writing I would like to examine how these themes are described, how they are related, how can Hemingway's heroes solve their problems.I would like to clarify his heroes' relation to death, their fear of death. I wrote about Hemingway's style. I think it is very important to mention it because he was a pioneer in literature. He won the Nobel Prize in literature at the age of fifty-five. As in his life he always connected death and love (four wars - four wives) in that way he connected them in his major works: in For Whom the Bell Tolls and in A Farewell to Arms. Death and love connection can be clearly seen in the book For Whom the Bell Tolls when Jordan and Maria were making love and the earth moved. This happened also with Joachim in his last hour.
