Tartalmi kivonat: | Several writers turned to Africa to draw inspiration from it for their works. In the first part of this study I will explore the topic of what Africa means to those writers who wrote about it. Among them, one of the most important was Ernest Hemingway. I will examine what these African visits meant to him: adventures or escapes from the over-civilised world. I will prove that his passionate love of life helped him to see not only the trials but also the worth of Africa. I will demonstrate that Hemingway's protagonists showed weakness in African conditions. In the conclusion I will prove that the writer portrays himself as above fear, pettiness and any negative qualities that would tarnish his own image. |
