The idea that an essential part of language acquisition is the ability to comprehend and produce lexical phrases as unanalyzed units may provide effective results in many situations. First, I examined the word categories (a general categorisation which appears in several methodology books and not part of the Lexical Approach) and the word formations, which can help to decide which is the most appropriate technique to be used in vocabulary teaching. In the second part of this thesis I dealt with the pronunciation of words which is a very important factor in communication and which is not emphasized enough in language teaching. Thirdly, I intended to show how we store information in our memory so as to be able to select language techniques which make students remember the words better in a way that reinforces the effectiveness of this approach. Finally, it was shown how to apply this theory in practise through a research which has proved the adaptability of the Lexical Approach. | |
