The topic is particularly intriguing due to the extremely lengthy, repeatedly restarted, and surprisingly complex investigation, as well as the wide range of operational tools employed throughout the process. In my research, I have examined contemporary investigative materials preserved in the Historical Archives of the State Security Services and the Military History Archives. These sources provide a detailed insight into even the smallest aspects of the case. During my presentation, I will explore how the state security services investigated crimes and extraordinary incidents related to firearms and ammunition during the socialist era, working in collaboration with the relevant bodies of the Hungarian People’s Army. I will highlight the specific characteristics of such investigations and the challenges faced by former investigators. Finally, I will assess the effectiveness of these investigative methods and the outcomes they produced. | |
