Tartalmi kivonat:This study examines the history of the Mautner family from Győr, with a particular focus on their adaptation to the Hungarian society, their roles within the landowning elite, and how these aspects were reflected in their lifestyle and representation. The aim of my research is to uncover to whom and in what manner the family demonstrated loyalty, as well as the extent to which different generations preserved Jewish traditions. The Mautners, who arrived from Germany at the end of the 18th century, first settled in the Banat region and later in the Swabian community of Bonyhád. The Mautner family were agricultural entrepreneurs, primarily driven by business interests in managing their estates and factories. They supplemented their own landholdings with leases. In the Mautner estate, beyond rationalizing operations to increase productivity, they placed great emphasis on labor management and professionalism. The Mautner family also considered it important to improve the living conditions of their workers. The history of three generations of the Mautner family reveals how individual and collective self-images and commitments changed over time, and how different generations were compelled to adapt to historical and social changes in various ways.
