In the period under review, this source material is provided by the Hungarian World Newsreel, the only Hungarian historical document of its kind. As the subject is much larger than I could fit into a single paper, I have to leave out a number of things out of necessity and concentrate on the specific historical questions I am formulating. After two small chapters of an introductory nature, the first of two more extensive sections presents a quantitative analysis of the main source corpus. In the second main part, I will examine two relatively short periods in the life of the army, using visual image analysis and military science. Only the departure and arrival home can be covered here. Finally, I will summarise the answers to the questions posed in the introduction. | |
