Tartalmi kivonat: | Investigations of the anthropology of the senses should not be limited to presenting the manifestations of individual sensory faculties (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste). Creating a universal theory would also be important for religious studies; however, works that offer a systematic overview of the kind are few and far between. Fortunately, the versatile French sociologist, David Le Breton, has lately published a book titled La Saveur du Monde: Une Anthropologie des Sens (Paris, 2006), which is exactly such a work. Through my presentation of the topics discussed in the book my intention was to present the anthropological, philosophical and theoretical perspectives in general. I related these to the theory of senses found in the first volume of Kant's Anthropology, and called for more philosophically motivated religious and ethnographical studies on the subject. As a subsequent addendum to this paper, I also make reference to the latest international literature in this field. |
