On Christmas Eve people make big fire to keep warm the Jesus Child. On the midnight mass the cantor is allowed to sing a popular song, too. The saw and the hatchet put under the Christmas table must be taken away on New Year's Day, as St. Joseph had to escape at that time. According to the people, from the smell of the bread baked on Good Friday the suffering Saviour recovers his strength. Water for washing mustn't be poured out because Jesus slipped on it. Those who fast on Golden Friday will know the time of their death three days before it. On the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary a chapel or Virgin Mary herself can be seen in the rising sun. The foundation of the house under constuchon is sprinkled with holy water to make it built on the rock of St. Peter. Only the so called magic women helped the wandering Jesus on the Earth, so they got certain healing power. In love magic they say three Lord's Prayers, at the bed of a bad sleeper they pray to the seven Sleeping Saints. The author also introduces the traditions of the sacred well and the tradition of human sacrifice on the pilgrim feast of Máriagyud. Most of these customs wear the effects of the neighbouring Slavic, German ethnic groups and late medieval Bogomil effects.
