| Summary: | The main topic of this study is the representation of Sándor Kisfaludy’s portrait in connection with Hungarian National Literary History by Károly Eötvös’ works in three volumes (Utazás a Balaton körül I–II. [Travel Around Lake Balaton], 1900; A balatoni utazás vége [The End of the Balaton Travel], 1909). In my analysis, I would like to show how Eötvös uses Sándor Kisfaludy’s biography and his literary works (such as topics of a special literary cult) in the course of making Lake Balaton as a characteristic ’national landscape’. Moreover, I interpret how Eötvös takes Kisfaludy in the process of Hungarian literary history, actualizing the importance of Kisfaludy’s œuvre, concerning the literary representation of Lake Balaton and West-Hungary at the end of the 19th century. |
