Tartalmi kivonat: | This paper is about sentence parsing in Broca's aphasia. Linebarger (1990) and Mauner, Fromkin & Cornell (1993) have argued that there is a close relationship between parsing and grammaticality judgments by aphasics. We tested six Hungarian Broca's aphasics in sentence-grammaticalityjudgment tasks. The tests contained the different instances of the ungrammaticality of the Hungarian sentences (e.g. ungrammatical word order, case assignment, NP-movement, anaphora, agreement of features, coreferential relations, gapping, selectional restrictions and others). Despite their syntactic impairments in repetition tests the patients were capable of making correct grammaticality judgments with some kind of Hungarian sentences and not with others. The problem is the following: what are the factors facilitating or impeding judgments of certain sentences. I assume that the division of the tasks into easy and hard tasks (from the point of view of grammaticality judgments) reflects the focal disruption of the syntactic parser and the interaction of the impaired processing modules. |
