Tartalmi kivonat:In today’s developed countries we see an increasing headway of the services sector, while the European Union’s regional policy for the period of 2007-2013 places special emphasis on the support of knowledge intensive activities. Therefore, it is important to survey the situation of services with high knowledge intensity in Hungary as well. Economic activities, and consequently the spatial distribution of knowledge intensive services are influenced by a great deal of factors including disproportions within the given country and externalities like knowledge spillover or market size. The various trends of spatial econometrics and economic geography have developed a series of indicators and index numbers, all of which grasp this phenomenon from different aspects. My paper aims at applying some of these indicators in Hungary for the analysis of the spatial distribution of knowledge intensive service sectors and their potential clustering.
