Books, CD’s, videos, computers and home electronic devices are among the items found on current bestseller lists and on the shelves of the largest online stores. There are tools available, as outlined in this paper, that can aid the efficient online marketing of these products and the sales of these can be supported using recommender systems. The collaborative filtering technique, also described in this research paper, has been employed by market leading US dotcom companies with great success in recent years. Because of said marketing success, the appearance of European recommendation systems can be anticipated very soon.
